Crocodile Bay Fishing Report for June, 2024

Crocodile Bay Fishing Report for June, 2024

Watch our June fishing highlights video below.

It’s tuna time here on the Osa Peninsula, home to Crocodile Bay. June brought many memorable catches for our fishing guests. From multiple 100+ lb yellowfin tuna to 40 to 60 lb roosterfish, the start of the green season and the change in water temperature have made the fishing exceptional. Especially for tuna.

This past month tuna-fishing was on fire, with our crews successfully finding multiple schools of yellowfin offshore.  The waters off Crocodile Bay were teeming with feeding yellowfin tuna. Our experienced crews know how to fish these schools, giving our anglers the opportunity to try various techniques such as live baiting, casting different artificial lures (poppers, minnows, diving and floating lures), and even vertical jigging with different weights and styles of jigs. These schools of tuna can range between 20 and 250 lbs, providing a fight you will remember for the rest of your life.

Inshore fishing has been very active with the start of the green season, and we’ve seen a few roosterfish surpass the 45 lb mark. Roosterfish are a game fish chased by many avid anglers, and Costa Rica has long been one of the top roosterfishing destinations in the world. Professional, world-class anglers rate Crocodile Bay as the number one roosterfish destination in Costa Rica. The multiple bites and impressive size of the roosterfish make Crocodile Bay a special place to target that trophy roosterfish.

June is also when we start to see the billfish move in, especially blue marlin feeding on the smaller tunas and bonitos. We can expect July to bring some great marlin action along with a few sailfish. We can’t wait!

We have a new “tuna time” special package for guests who want to target yellowfin in Costa Rica this season. See link below.
