Crocodile Bay Fishing Report for March, 2024

Watch our March fishing highlights video below.

Greetings from the Osa Peninsula! March has brought about an explosion of sailfish activity to Crocodile Bay, offering our anglers some of the most exhilarating fishing experiences of the season. From landing double-digit releases on sailfish to reeling in impressive 150-pound yellowfin tuna, March has proven itself as a month of fishing excitement. Our skilled crews have expertly guided our anglers to adventures they’ll never forget.

The fishing has been dynamic, with the billfish preferences for bait shifting unpredictably. Throughout March, dead-rigged ballyhoo and naked ballyhoo have been the go-to choices. For those unfamiliar with these fishing techniques, we encourage you to explore our Captain’s Corners on YouTube for valuable insights.

The fishing results with the rigged ballyhoos has been nothing short of spectacular, with instances of doubles and even triples occurring at once. Despite the potential for chaos, our crews always skillfully manage multiple hook-up situations, resulting in the successful catch and release of two (or even three) sailfish at the same time.

March offered an ideal opportunity for fly-fishing enthusiasts seeking to challenge themselves by targeting billfish on the fly. Several anglers achieved their goal of hooking billfish, with a notable highlight being angler Chylo Laszloffy’s unforgettable experience hooking a 400-pound blue marlin on the fly. He was thrilled, to say the least! Additionally, Chylo successfully released several sails on the fly, further adding to the excitement of the month.

At Crocodile Bay, we take immense pride in hosting a variety of events, from corporate retreats to gatherings of friends and family. In March, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Abbot group for the first time. They caught and released sailfish, roosters and cubera snappers. Pleased by our fishing opportunities and luxurious amenities, they look forward to returning next year with an even larger group. We’ll be ready for you!

Furthermore, March saw the return of the Grand Slam fishing tournament, hosted by Jimmy and Jacqueline Grandt. Participants enjoyed a memorable sportfishing adventure, landing numerous sailfish, yellowfin tuna, blue marlin, robust roosterfish, and colossal cubera snappers.

As April starts, the fishing action shows no signs of slowing down. If you’re looking  for an unforgettable fishing adventure in paradise, look no further than Crocodile Bay. Reach out to us, and let us demonstrate how easy planning your dream vacation can be. We can plan everything from transportation, transfers, hotels, meals, tours and fishing.

We look forward to welcoming you to paradise.

Tight lines, Diego Camacho
