Crocodile Bay Fishing Report for January 2024

Crocodile Bay Fishing Report for January 2024

Watch our January highlights video below.

Hello from the beautiful Osa Penisulla… here’s the latest news on our January fishing at Crocodile Bay, Costa Rica. It’s been amazing.

January brought some serious fishing mojo to our waters! We’re talking about guests reeling in 60+ lbs cubera snappers and massive roosterfish ranging from 40 to 65 lbs. Our inshore action has been off the charts, and we’ve been mixing it up with different techniques like drifting live baits, vertical jigging, slow pitch, fast pitch, and even topwater action with plugs, poppers, and semi-sinking minnows. Seriously, watching those fish blast your lure is an adrenaline rush like no other!

The highlight of January has got to be the sailfish action. Sailfish season kicked off early this year, and we’ve had some epic double-digit days already.

And, if you’re wondering whether you can hook your own sailfish, even if you’re a newbie, the answer is a resounding yes!

Our crews will have you reeling in billfish like a pro in no time. We have a team of pro’s working with us who will deliver success—whatever your skill or experience level is.

And let’s not forget about the tuna scene. The tuna fishery around the Osa Peninsula is on fire, we’re running into huge schools practically every day.

Trust me, landing a yellowfin tuna is an experience you won’t forget – these fish are 90% muscle and put up a fight that’ll have you sweating.

And the best part? Our chefs work their magic to whip up some mouthwatering tuna dishes for dinner, from sashimi and sushi to tuna tartare and grilled steaks.

January also saw us hooking into a few wahoos trolling around the current lines, ranging from 25 to 70 lbs.

And shoutout to the Chris Ceraldi group for joining us this month and having a an amazing trip reeling in all sorts of fish, from inshore to offshore landing sailfish, tuna, roosterfish, snappers and dorado.

We’re all about our repeat customers, and this month we had the pleasure of hosting Matt Marsh, Ryan Unger, and their crew of friends. These guys love Crocodile Bay so much that it’s become a yearly tradition for them to join us for a fishing trip.

These guys had a blast! And let’s not forget the Gagnon family, who are hardcore fishing enthusiasts and always choose Crocodile Bay as their go-to destination. The whole family kept their rods bent during their stay. Nice work everybody!

Looking ahead to February, we’re gearing up for some epic billfish action. Judging by the reports from the first couple of days, it’s shaping up to be a stellar month for targeting billfish here at Crocodile Bay.

So, pack up your fishing gear and lucky hat, and let us take care of the rest. It’ll be an honor to host you!

Tight lines,

Diego Camacho
