Read an excerpt from a recent press release about a surprise Costa Rica wedding at Crocodile Bay Resort
For Immediate Release – Just imagine…you receive a wedding invitation…and it is to your own wedding. This rare occurrence actually took place at Crocodile Bay Resort, Costa Rica in an area renowned to be the most biologically intense place on Earth – The Osa Peninsula. All of us at one time or another have participated in or, perhaps it is more accurate to say has been the victim of, a surprise party or announcement. Most popular are surprise birthday parties…followed by surprise anniversaries, or congratulatory receptions. Of course there is also the risky business of surprising someone you love with a marriage proposal, this is usually done in all kinds of creative settings and manners; and we have seen these go very well…and sometimes we have seen these go horribly wrong. But when is the last time you have actually witnessed a lady attending a surprise wedding…her own wedding? Now that’s a scenario that would take the proverbial cake…the wedding cake that is. As you can imagine; the logistics of pulling off a surprise wedding are paramount…and to complicate matters; the victim in this story, Silvie Spakova, has a 7 year old daughter (Sophie) who would never be able to keep such a secret from her mother…and the deal with the groom to be (David Belinko) has always been that Sophie must first grant permission for her mother’s hand. This was actually the weak link in the whole plot. The first challenge was to convince Silvie to allow herself to be filmed in a whimsical setting walking along a beach in Costa Rica with Sophie. This supposedly was to be used for a promotional video to encourage family tourism to one of the most exotic destinations on Earth, and a fishing and adventure lodge that typically caters to professional anglers and adventure seekers. Silvie agreed and so the stage was set. Dressed in smart casual tropical attire with the ocean as a backdrop Silvie is presented with an envelope which the director of the promotional video, Christopher Graham, gave to Sophie. When Silvie opens the envelop she realizes that she is reading the invitation to her wedding taking place at this exact hour and place; a beach appropriately named Plaja Preciosa or Precious Beach in English. Just a few meters away friends and family are gathered in hiding; waiting for Silvie and Sophie to come upon the gathering; the rest is blissful history. Crocodile Bay Resort is located on Costa Rica’s South Pacific Coast where the largets rainforest in the America’s meets the Pacific Ocean. In addition to hosting weddings on the beach or next to thundering waterfalls in the rainforest, Crocodile Bay offers some of the world’s best fishing, 30 eco adventure tours and a luxury rainforest spa. They have hosted weddings and corporate retreats with groups susch as Boston Whaler, The BBC, Yamaha, CNN, National Geographic, PENN Reels, Columbia Sportswear and others. They were also featured on Good Morning America and a prize vacation package on Wheel of Fortune. For more information contact us here
