December 2025 Costa Rica Fishing Report

December Action at Crocodile Bay Resort, Costa Rica

December kicked off with an absolute bang, delivering one of the most exciting starts to the season we’ve seen in years. With glassy seas, calm weather, and a red-hot bite both inshore and offshore, the fishing has been nothing short of spectacular.

Offshore Highlights

Offshore action has been on fire, with an excellent run of blue marlin right out of the gate. December also marks the start of summer in Costa Rica, bringing those legendary calm conditions that make billfishing and tuna hunting even better. We’ve also seen massive schools of yellowfin tuna running with porpoise, and the bite has been so strong we’re regularly seeing double and even triple hook-ups. Fish have ranged from 30 to 250 pounds, giving anglers the fight of a lifetime.

Inshore Bite

Inshore fishing has been just as impressive, with big roosterfish hitting the deck in the 20 to 70-pound range. These fish are as powerful as they are beautiful—expect explosive strikes, long runs, and unforgettable battles.

Fresh Catch to the Plate

Looking to bring home dinner? Our crews know exactly where to go for top-quality table fish, and once you’re back at the lodge, our chefs turn it into an incredible meal. From sea to plate, it doesn’t get better.

Looking Ahead

January is traditionally one of the best months of the year for billfish, and all signs point to another incredible stretch of fishing ahead. If you’re ready to chase the fish of a lifetime in true paradise, Crocodile Bay is calling.
