Costa Rica opened its borders on August 1 to foreign tourists from the European Union, Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, and Canada, Tourism Minister Gustavo Segura announced in July.
Starting November 1, all residents and citizens of the United States will be allowed to enter Costa Rica again.
Tourists Entering Costa Rica will be required to complete the three following steps. Please contact us directly so that we may help walk you through the process and answer any questions that you might have.
1.Travel insurance is required for entry in the event of unforeseen illness affecting your trip. Crocodile Bay has teamed up with AIG/Travelguard to help you get the best coverage for the best price on their website at: Travelguard Trip Insurance . We suggest their “Preferred” or “Deluxe” level plans, and including the medical and inconvenience “bundles” in your coverage to meet present trip insurance requirements. One can review what’s covered at: https://www.travelguard.com/travel-news/coronavirus-advisory .
2. Each traveler must take a PCR-RT Covid-19 test within 72 hours of the departure of their flight to Costa Rica, and have the results be negative. As time goes on, there are more and more options available for locations where these tests are offered depending on where you live. Apart from temporary locations that provide “drive through Covid-19 tests” and locations like CVS Pharmacies which now provide testing services, there are also convenient tests you may take at home such as these from Lets Get Checked which can be found at https://www.letsgetchecked.com/us/en/. Please be sure to verify the exact amount of time in which the results will be provided for you to ensure you have it in hand before your flight, as the airlines are legally prohibited from allowing you on board without this document.
3. Each traveler must fill out an online virtual form for Costa Rica onto which the above stated trip insurance and Covid-19 tests must be uploaded. Simply type the web address http://salud.go.cr into the web browser of your computer or smartphone, choose “English” in the button on the top right of the page and follow the instructions to complete the form. It is not only user friendly, but you need not complete the whole form at once and may log back in at your convenience to add new info or edit what you had previously entered. Once the form is complete it will provide you with a bar code that you can print out physically or simply show via your smartphone to the airlines ticketing counter along with your trip insurance and Covid-19 test before you will be allowed to board your flight. Due to these additional steps that the airlines must complete at the ticketing desk, we suggest arriving to the airport 3-4 hours before your departure time.
