The sailfish along with the marlin are peaking right now.  And the strong Dorado population this season was the first tip off that this would be a strong season for game fish too. Sailfish are some of the fastest fish in the ocean, so any experienced angler will tell you that catching one is a big thrill. A thrill so big it rivals catching a blue marlin, well, almost. But still fishing for sailfish is a challenge that both the first timers and pro enjoy. There is nothing quite like being out on the water all day in the sun and the adrenalin rush you get from catching one of these sea creatures. It is definitely something you will remember. An interesting fact to note is that billfish, which includes marlin, sailfish and swordfish all share a sword like bill which is how the got their name. But the sailfish with their large dorsal fin may really be one of the prettiest of the billfish.  Their dorsal fins really do look like giant sails.  They can weigh anywhere from 30 to 60 lbs with a world record of 221 lbs.

All the big game fish in Costa Rica are under a catch and release policy so to protect these fish stocks from weakening. Costa Rica is known as an environmentally conscious nation and a hotspot for tourism specifically ecotourism, and anything having to do with the outdoors. It is also offers some of the best game fishing in the world. Plus, Costa Rica’s hotels and resorts understand that most people are seeking a certain level of comfort and pampering when they travel on vacation. In many ways, a trip here is the best of both worlds. You can learn quite a lot have an eco-immersion type experience or you can be wonderfully lazy or have simple fun doing yoga on the beach.

Crocodile Bay organizes offshore fishing trips that can accommodate both the beginner and the professional angler.  Sport fishing is popular down here because fish stocks are so strong and healthy in this region. Even if you just want to relax and get out of the cold, I can’t think of a better place to unwind than the pristine beaches of Costa Rica, the happiest country in the world.
