Bird Watching Day 1: Your first day of bird watching also serves as an opportunity to become familiar with the local habitats, starting with the wetlands and orchards surrounding the resort. We then venture up the Tiger River valley. This broad river basin affords a gallery view of dense primary rainforest leading up the wet slopes of the tallest mountains on the peninsula and into Corcovado National Park.

Bird Watching Day 2: We head to the far end of the peninsula into a large private forest reserve. Along the way, we stop by a fresh water lagoon, offering sightings of the Northern and Wattled Jacanas, Purple Gallinule, Least Grebe, Bare-throated Tiger-Heron, Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, Ringed Kingfisher, and much more. We continue along open countryside, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and many birding opportunities. The reserve itself not only offers old growth rainforest, but also a coastal forest that leads to a trackless stretch of Pacific Ocean coastline.

Bird Watching Day 3 (Flex): After completing two solid days of birding, customize this final day to fit your desires.

1) Tour a third full day excursion into the Corcovado National Park rainforest via the Los Patos park station.

2) You can take advantage of some bird related activities like, the canopy platform zip-line, mangrove kayaking or bird watching on horseback. These all being half-day activities, they can be combined with a half-day of bird watching.

3) Upgrade your package* to include the Golfo Dulce Boat Excursion. The Gulf’s breathtaking scenery serves as a backdrop for excellent pelagic and shoreline birding. The highlight of this trip is a tour up the Rio Esquinas mangrove estuary. Each bend in the river brings a new sighting, of not only wetlands birds, but also numerous forested species.
